Matchweek 7 – Atlanta Caribbean Pro Premier Division – UPSL

Seas Jamaica continue to bleed goals as they slip down the league table.

10:00am Match
VaHi ATLetic FC vs Seas Jamaica FC
After a bright start to the season when Seas Jamaica were at the top of the table 3 games in, they have since suffered a shocking period of form that has seen them sink in the league table after only gaining 1 point from 3 games since.

On Sunday during a driving rain storm, Seas were held by the league’s bottom club VaHi ATLetic FC in a 3-3 draw which exposed another issue for Seas in their inability to keep goals out. Currently holding the worst goals average allowing a colossal 27 goals in just 7 matches which is the highest in the division. With only 2 matches to go in the regular season for them, Seas will have to solve their defensive woes if they have any hopes of making one of the coveted 2 spots at the top of the table come the end of the season.

FC Yardaz won in dramatic late fashion against Club ATLetic

12:00pm Match (Feature Match Live Streamed)
Club ATLetic vs FC Yardaz
Our featured match of the day did not disappoint pitting 2 of the most in-form teams in the division against each other. Coming into this match, Club ATLetic had yet to lose a game while FC Yardaz were on a 2 game winning streak and without a lost in the last 3 games. Both of these teams are in great position to battle for the league title and one of the 2 playoff spots to determine the regional representative.

Club ATLetic were able to get the advantage in the 1st half climbing to a 2-1 lead after Yardaz had the early running in the the half when they scored first. Club had long periods of dominate possession, but there was methodical vibe running through Yardaz and there was a  sense that they were not far behind getting into the match and that would prove to be the case.

Yardaz experience showed as they first fought back to equalize in the 2nd half then dramatically take all 3 points literally in the 90th minute with a late strike which sealed the victory. For fans of the Caribbean league, this is the Yardaz most are use to seeing. A team that is never out of a match even when going down early. With this result, the race at the top of the table is even tighter than before.

Rovers maintain poll position despite losing to an in-form Honduras 5 Stars

2:00pm Match
Forest Rovers FC vs Honduras 5 Estrellas
League leaders Forest Rovers FC had a tough task coming into this match as they faced one of the most prolific teams in the league who before Sunday had scored the most goals of all teams in the division. Rovers has been very professional in their trek to the top of the table, but 5 Estrellas has been storming up the table by banging in goals for fun. Today, Honduras would continue that trend.

Rovers, suffering from an injury crisis faced Honduras with a somewhat depleted squad and Honduras were there to take full advantage, as they so often do, by jumping to an early 2-0 lead. But memories of the previous week when they did the same only to draw with Atlanta Generals by the score of 2-2, the question was, could that happen again with the quality Rover’s possesses.

But Rovers didn’t seem to have it in the tank as a 2 goal lead then went to 4 before Rovers could pull back a goal late in the 2nd half by their leading goal scorer, Martin Lugo. But Honduras would seal the match at the death with a 5th that meant that Honduras shot to 2nd place in the league table. All in all, Honduras got 2 goals from Kevin López, 2 goals from Brayan Rodríguez and 1 from Ángel Bonilla to finish out the match. But Rover’s 1st place position was such that even with this loss, they remain in 1st with an interesting match against Atlanta Generals in the coming week.

Generals continues their improvement with victory to rivals FC Stone Mountain.

4:00pm Match
Atlanta Generals FC vs FC Stone Mountain
These 2 teams have a history between them and is such that the game amounted to a derby match and the action on the pitch reflected a derby atmosphere. FC Stone Mountain are a talented but inexperience squad that is taking some time to find their feet in the season.

After the Granites jumped to a 2 goal lead early in the 1st half from a Generals own-goal and a silky goal from Hadji Miruho, Generals pegged them back and went past them in the 2nd half with 4 goals during a period of dominance for which the Granites found no answer. A hat trick from Lionel Touroude and a goal from Mohamed Lamin Gerewou were enough to get the victory in this hotly contested match.

The KSA derby proved to be a hot spirited and entertaining match.

6:00pm Match
KSA Pro vs KSA Pro Profile
Though, both of these clubs are founded from the same Academy, this truly did play out as a fierce derby where both clubs had a sincere dislike for one another. Perhaps bragging rights in the area was at stake but tasty challenges and colorful cards presented by the referee were on display as these 2 teams went at it.

It was a back and forth match and evenly played throughout and it looked that it might end in a 2-2 draw, but a late Pro-Profile goal was enough for them to take all the spoils on the day as they finished as 3-2 victors over KSA Pro U19 in a high paced and thrilling match that possessed all the drama you would expect from a top derby match.
